Cleveland Show. Columbus Show.

Saturday night, fearing thunderstorms on early Sunday, I bailed on my romantic idea of riding my '82 Yamaha Maxim xj750 motorcycle to my Cleveland show.  I played the Matinee, a new bar near Ohio City with some friends in the Nightlights and Mr. joshua jesty.  They were all superb, but the audience was a little empty.

I met up with Jake, just before the show to rehearse the songs, but we failed to deliver at the show.  It was my fault.  I've been on a Scotch kick you see.  By the time the sound guy figured out that his shit wasn't working, I was sailing the seas of drunken bliss.  Shawn Flowers and his new wife, Courtney, came out to the show even though it was her birthday--as well as Jake's crazy buddy, Gordon who rode his bicycle 3.5 hours from Akron.  We drank a lot, had a good time sitting on the patio...

On our way back to Shawn's house after the show, we stopped off at Steve's Hot Dogs.  I ate part of a nasty Gravy Fried thing and a cheeseburger.   The bill came to just under $30 so since I made exactly that at the Matinee, I bought food for everyone.
Jake and Gordon went their way. I drove to Shawn's.  He played me the new Chum. recordings which sound great.  I can't wait to hear more.

I fell asleep pretty wasted listening to Skynyrd really loud and them newlyweds bumping their bed-springs.

The cats waited until I was asleep to make their first attack.

I awoke early and drove home.  Passing Mansfield, I felt nostalgic and called my family to meet for breakfast.  We met at Cracker Barrel.  Peaches on French toast.  mmmm...

I made it home by about 3pm, napped for an hour, loaded my "solo" gear, and drove in a thunderstorm to the metronome house.   Wow...what a beautiful place...perfect for shows.   Several friends that I wasn't expecting showed up.  It was great.  It was like an "inside" version of Rad Baron Castle.  Megan Palmer was great.  I really liked her piano songs.  I played second and it seemed to go over pretty well.  I felt like I played alright.  Definitely better than Cleveland.  I also didn't drink.  hmmm...

The Black Swans were incredible. Canaan, Jerry, and Chris are just amazing together. It was a very inspired performance. Everyone in the room felt it. wow.

Anyways, it was a great weekend.  I look forward to heading south this next weekend.  I travel south with Ease the Medic.  Dayton, Tupelo, Tuscaloosa, East Ridge, Tennessee.
